A range of items from tablet PCs, smartphones to 3D televisions are on display at IFA, the world's largest consumer electronics fair underway here.
Despite the US and eurozone debt crisis, the Sep 2-7 expo has a record 1,441 exhibitors and expects about 250,000 visitors from across the world.
According to a report released on IFA's opening, tablet computers, smartphones and its apps, television with the internet and more entertainment functions, 3D and HD devices, networking for home and for people on the move are among the latest fashion trends in global consumer electronics market this year.
Although the US consumer electronics giant Apple is not participating in the expo, the design and market revolution it brought to the world can be sensed everywhere, with its major rivals launching their new products to challenge apple's dominant position, the Global Times reported.
Korea-based Samsung unveiled its new model of Galaxy Note in IFA, calling it 'an emerging desire for a primary device for on-the-go use that could consolidate the core tasks of multiple devices'.
As the first phone with a 5.3-inch screen, Galaxy Note dimmed the bounce lines of smartphone and tablets. Powered by a 1.4 GHz dual-core chip and Android 2.3 operating system, the new model, which also supports pen input, will be available in market by the end of the year.
However, Samsung's highly expected Galaxy Tab 10.1, a strong opponent to Apple's iPad, was not seen in the trade show, as Apple won a court injunctions to ban Tab 10.1 sales in several nations, alleging it violated the patents related to iPad 2.
Japan's Sony also used the IFA to unfold its two long-awaited Android tablet models, Tablet S and P. Both of them are integrated with Sony's music, video and ebook services, somewhat similar with Apple products and their iTunes stores.
'We want to prove it's not who makes it first that counts, but who makes it better,' the newspaper quoted Sony chief executive Howard Stringer as saying at the launch ceremony.
Another prominent Japanese producer Toshiba is coming up with a brand new no-glasses 3D TV, named 55LZ2. Boasting a massive 55-inch screen with 3840x2160 pixels resolution, the 3D TV can be viewed from multiple angles for 3D images.
As a fast emerging force in consumer electronics, Chinese exhibitors rented a separate exhibition hall this year. China's major electronics manufacturers, like Lenovo, Hair and Huawei, are all here to present their latest progress in various areas, the newspaper said.
'China has become one of our very strong, permanent and eminent exhibitors. As a matter of fact this year we set a new hall basically to accommodate all Chinese exhibitors,' Christian Goeke, expo organizer and chief operating officer of Messe Berlin told Xinhua in an interview.
